The book “Intellectual Property – Practical Perspectives and Future Challenges” is published in the Cercle collection - Lefebvre Dalloz, under the direction of Stéphanie Le Cam, senior lecturer at the University of Rennes 2 and general director of the Institut des sciences sociales du travail de l’Ouest (ISSTO), Yann Basire, senior lecturer at the University of Strasbourg and general director of the Center for International Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI), and Caroline Le Goffic, professor of private law at the University of Lille and co-director of the Applied Private Law Research Team (LERADP).

 

This book addresses the major issues facing intellectual property today, thanks to a collective approach that brings together the informed views of a diverse range of professionals and players.

 

Gilles Vercken shares his analysis of the developments and challenges of collective dynamics in intellectual property.

 

Available in bookstores from September 11.

Intervention at the study day “Cultural and creative industries & generative AI: between disruptions in professional practices and legal and economic challenges”

Presentation by Valérie-Laure Benabou on the topic “How to associate creators with the value generated by the use of their works by artificial intelligence systems?" during a study day devoted to cultural and creative industries and generative AI, held at UTC-Paris on June 13.


Objective: analyze the disruptions in professional practices and legal and economic challenges through two themes: the impact of generative AI on professions in the cultural and creative industries for metaverse environments, and the impact of massive learning by generative AI on data protected by intellectual property rights.

Speech at the conference ‘Music and Law’

Speech by Gilles Vercken with Stéphanie Le Cam and Stéphanie Maury at the conference ‘Music and the Law’ on April 1st 2025 at the Université Catholique of Lille's Faculty of Law, at a round table dedicated to self-production and the professional identity of the artist-author.

 

Aim: Analyzing the legal, fiscal and social issues relating to the status of artist-author, highlighting the challenges of self-production and the possible structural choices for securing their professional activity. The question of remuneration for the artist-author will be raised (remuneration for copyright (proportional and lump sum), salary or remuneration on these rights, consequences on the precariousness of the status).
