The CEIPI and Vercken & Gaullier Law Firm are pleased and proud to announce the creation of a doctoral thesis award of CEIPI / VERCKEN & GAULLIER, in the field of copyright and neighbouring rights.

This prize is intended to distinguish a doctoral thesis constituting an important doctrinal contribution to a better understanding of the theoretical aspects and practical stakes of the subject dealt with. It is organized every two years.

It consists in the publication of the winning thesis in the CEIPI thesis sub-collection, in a new sub-collection called "Doctoral thesis award CEIPI / VERCKEN & GAULLIER ".

The CEIPI / VERCKEN & GAULLIER doctoral thesis award was born out of the immense interest for practitioners to consult theses as part of their practice. Granting of the CEIPI / VERCKEN & GAULLIER doctoral thesis award

For the first edition of the doctoral thesis award of CEIPI / VERCKEN & GAULLIER, the award was granted to the following thesis:

"Awareness and creation in Copyright Law"

Noémie Enser

"At the time when the questions pertaining to the human, moral and psychological consciousness are raised (again) with a particular acuteness in light of the developments of the "artificial intelligence" and the return of the morality in our societies, the doctoral thesis of Noémie Enser is particularly relevant and cutting edge.

The moral conscience has a role to play in Copyright Law and the awareness in the creation is at the centre of the concept itself of copyright".

THE PROFESSIONAL AUTHOR BETWEEN COPYRIGHT AND LABOUR LAW

Stéphanie Le Cam

For the first edition of the doctoral thesis award of Gilles Vercken Law Firm, the award was granted to the following thesis: "The professional author between copyright and labour law" by Stéphanie Le Cam.

"Gilles Vercken Law Firm is particularly pleased by the choice of this first thesis: the topic addressed by Mrs Stéphanie Le Cam has major practical repercussions for companies, which have to chose the contractual framework for their relations with the authors while taking into account the double constraint of Copyright Law and of Social Security Law.

For a deeper understanding of these constraints, it is crucial to grasp the theory which establishes them. Mrs Le Cam&"39;s work is a great harmony between both, theory and practice, which reflects one of the essential values of our Firm."
